REGULAR TOWNSHIP MEETING

 

The Poland Township Board of Trustees held their Regular Meeting on April 12th, 2017 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road, Poland, Ohio.

Jeff Collingwood leads in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Scharville calls roll call. Ungaro, Lidle and Wollet were present.

Lidle motions to approve the minutes dated March 8, 2017 and March 15, 2017. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.

Lidle motions to authorize payment for all outstanding bills for the township. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.

Paul Canter was not present to give the financial report for March 2017.

The Poland Township Trustees present the 2017 Ohio Youth Basketball Team 6th grade State Champs with a certificate of recognition.

Lidle motions to approve the contribution in the amount of $500 to Celebrate Poland 2017. Seconded by Ungaro. Voting yes – Lidle and Ungaro. Abstained – Wollet.

Lidle motions to approve the location of the Castlo sign with approval of the Fire District. Seconded by Ungaro. Voting yes – Lidle, Ungaro and Wollet.

Lidle motions to approve payment to American Legion Post 15 and Post 247 in the amount of $250 each for Memorial Day Expenses. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.

Lidle motions to approve Tetra Tech for the Road Evaluation Project, not to exceed the amount of $5,000. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.

Lidle motions to adopt Resolution #17-09 to participate in the Winter Salt Program. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.

The Trustees take several minutes to discuss the need for seasonal help for the Road Department.

 

Park Committee:

Ken Filicky is present to give the monthly report for Mike Heher.

Lidle motions to appoint Jeff Collingwood to the Park Advisory Board. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.

 

Recycling Department:

Administrator, Jim Scharville, is present to give monthly report. 

 

Zoning Department:

Zoning Inspector, Bob Monus, is present to give the monthly report. For the month of March 2017 total valuation is $251,999 and total fees collected $1,795.

 

Road Department:

Road Superintendent, Tom Monus, is present to give monthly report.

Ungaro motions to approve the purchase of a mower from Elders not to exceed the amount of $13,000. Seconded by Lidle. Voting yes – Ungaro and Lidle. Voting no – Wollet.

 

Police Department:

Chief Goodin is present to give monthly stats for March 2017.

Lidle motions to approve the equipment purchase for the new cruiser from HKG outfitters, not to exceed the amount of $3,900. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.

 

Public Comment:

Margarita Rodriguez – 6789 Stymie Rd – Voices concern of trees that have fallen and the cleaning of her street.

Phillip Hockensmith – 6977 North Lima Rd – From Boy Scout Troop # 44. Is present to ask for a donation for a Boardwalk Project in the park.

Lidle motions to approve donation to Boy Scout Troop #44 in the amount of $500 for the Boardwalk Project in the park. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.

Karen Nelson – 7895 Meadowbrooke Tr. – Voices concern about the conditions of her road.

Lidle makes a motion to adjourn at 6:55 p.m. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro.
