The Poland Township Board of Trustees held a regular meeting June 10, 2020 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.

Mr. Ungaro calls the meeting to order.

Mrs. Paige Mercer leads the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Scharville does roll call. Ungaro, Kempers and Wollet are present.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve the minutes dated May 27th, 2020. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes - Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to authorize payment for all outstanding bills for the Township. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Resolution #20-13: Transfer $180,000 from General Fund to Police fund.  Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Resolution #20-14: Transfer $117,059 from General Fund to Ohio Public Works Commission Funds.  Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

TOWNSHIP RESOLUTIONS:

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Resolution #20-15: Nuisance Notice.  Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro gives recognition to Paige Mercer - competed in Ms. Ohio Earth. She has requested to plant trees and bushes in the Cemetery as part of the Ms. Ohio Earth Project.

ADMINISTRATION:

Mr. Canter is present to give financial report.

 Revenue- $390,495.97

 Expenditure- $439,671.07

PARK COMMITTEE:

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve to hire Max Dwyer for seasonal help at minimum wage.  Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Flicky gives Park report.

RECYCLING:

Mr. Scharville is present to give recycling report.

Small discussion with the Board about placing a fence and or security cameras in the recycling center lot. Trustees decided to have the fence entrance placed on Clingan Road and box in the recycling center.

ZONING DEPARTMENT:

Mr. Ungaro presents on behalf of Mr. Bob Monus zoning report.

Mr. Ungaro presents monthly report from May

  • 0 new structures, valuation- $0; fees-$0.
  • 25 additional/ improvements, valuation-$238,323; fees-$1,795.
  • 2 misc. permit at-$10.00; 1-appeal, at- $275.00; 88 violations for the month; total valuation for the month- $238,323; total fees collected-$2,080; valuation year to date-$1,724,342.

ROAD DEPARTMENT:

Mr. Scharville gives road report on behalf of Tommy Monus.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve to move forward for the Diana project not to exceed $17,000. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes-Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Chief Goodin is present to give monthly report.

ELECTED OFFICIAL COMMENTS:

No Comments.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

Dan Conway 7293 North Lima Road, informs the Board about the pipes that were flushed out on his property due to flooding issues.

Pam Burns 5876 Poland Struthers Road, discusses the sidewalks on Miller and Clyde streets.

Mr. Diorio is present to go over the road project. Discussed shadows and cracks on Red Maple and Cliffview. These are due to material consistence and cracking is normal. Lindy paving is standing behind their work and will fix if necessary.

Mr. Ungaro motions to pay $100,000 out of $190,000 owed to Lindy for the major completion of the road project. Seconded by Mr. Kempers. Voting yes-Ungaro and Kempers. Voting no - Wollet.  Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to adjourn at 6:52 p.m.  Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
