The Poland Township Board of Trustees held their regular meeting October 10, 2018 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.

Mr. Rowe leads the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Scharville calls roll call. Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers are present.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve regular minutes dated September 12, 2018 and special meeting minutes dated September 24, 2018. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes-Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to authorize payment for all outstanding checks for the township. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Financial report was not available at this time.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve the letter of resignation from Ron Massullo of the Zoning Commission Board. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes- Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Poland Township trustees recognize Patrolman Jeff Lewis with a lifesaving certificate.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Toys for Tots drop-off site located at the Poland Township Government Building. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes- Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Halloween hours for Poland, also in conjunction with Struthers, schedule for Wednesday October 31st, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p. m. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes- Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers.

PARK COMMITTEE:

Mr. Filicky is present to give monthly report.  

Mr. Filicky thanks Tim Dwyer for all his volunteer work as well as the kids from the cross country team.

CEMETERY:

Ms. Wollet provides update on entry stone.

ZONING DEPARTMENT:

Bob Monus is present to give monthly report.

  • 2 new structures valued at $486,795; fees of $3,408.
  • 19 additional improvements valued at $296,138; fees of $2,192.
  • 9 Misc. permits at $55, one zoning appeal at $275; 33 violations for the month.
  • Total monthly valuation of $782,923.; Total Fees of $5,930.

Ungaro motions to approve Resolution #18-21: declaring the following property a Nuisance. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes- Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

 ROAD DEPARTMENT:

Tom Monus is present to give monthly report.

Ungaro motions to re-adjust alternate bid originally submitted by Butch and McCree not to exceed $46,000. Seconded by Wollet. Discussion entails as to which funds would be paying for the road resurfacing and paving. Voting yes- Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Chief Goodin is present to give monthly report.

Chief Goodin discusses the M.D.T. software upgrade and report writing service. Programs will allow the officer to access to a person’s information from all areas.

Ungaro motions to enter into agreement for police communication software upgrade with Spillman Technology not to exceed $30,000.00. Seconded by Wollet. Voting yes- Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Ungaro states that flu shots will be available for township employees, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Poland Township Building.
